Do you think of Sunday as the start of the week or the end? For me, it’s a quiet start to the week. I like to spend some time planning, reading and recharging. We typically do something as a family, including sitting down to a nice meal and perhaps a movie or board game. Whether this email reaches you Sunday evening or Monday morning (depending on your part of the world), here are a few things inspiring me lately that just might inspire you too.
I’m wrapping up my latest rug with just a bit of hemming to go (I’ll be sure to share the finished piece Friday when I send out this month’s free pattern).
I’m already thinking ahead to my next project and I’m feeling inspired by a few different mediums that may show up in my work in some way or another.
Here are a few things that have my wheels turning:
Tiny quilt blocks like this one from @the.quilting.corner.
Embroidering with beads like this from @wanderingcoastcollective.
And also how @angela.bastias uses beads sculpturally like this.
Lastly, loving all things granny square by Sue Maton @themercerie.

Reading:
A new friend just leant me “On Our Best Behavior: The Seven Deadly Sins and the Price Women Pay to Be Good” by Elise Loehnen. It’s been on my list for some time, and I’m eager to start. (One thing I miss about reading paper books is the ability to pass a good book along. Being loaned a book feels so nostalgic and makes me want to read less digitally just so I can do the same for someone else.)

Handmade Book Club – If you’re interested in bookmaking Handmade Book Club has a free Bookbinding Boot Camp with video tutorials. You can also join their community to access artist talks, gatherings, and tons of projects.
One of my first craft loves was book making (“Creating Handmade Books” by Alisa Golden is still on my shelf) and I’ve been very interested in cloth embroidered books the past couple years, and the idea of creating a punched/fibre art book is always circling around my brain too. I bet the Handmade Book Club might have an idea or two about that. 🤔
Travelling to:
My father-in-law is here from Canada and this is his first trip to Kuala Lumpur and he is our first out-of-town visitor. The kids are off school next week and we are all heading to Western Australia together for a week! This is a huge family bucket list item for us. We’re flying into Perth and then driving down to the Margaret River Region for the majority of our stay. Wineries, beaches, walks, caves and long lunches – I can’t wait. I plan to take lots of pictures (as usual), but particularly with future pattern ideas in mind. Stay tuned for a little travelogue post trip and maybe a new pattern or two as well.
