It’s been more than a minute, but I’m happy to report that I’m back to regularly weekly programming - or perhaps twice-weekly for a bit as I have things to share with you!
Ryan’s Dad came to visit us for the month of March, and he is now back home in Canada recovering from his long journey! He is so easy going and it was a true pleasure to have him with us in Kuala Lumpur as well as on our trip to Western Australia for the March school break.
We flew into Perth and then headed to the Margaret River region for a week of beach time, bbq’s, wineries, walks and much needed relaxation. Yes, we took our kids on a wine tour one day! The wineries had tons of green space, parks and dogs to play with. Plus we saw a field of Kangaroos which felt like a dream come true. I also really enjoyed the break from the intense heat and humidity.
Below are a few snapshots from the week, and the colour palette it inspired.
You can definitely expect a kangaroo pattern soon - I think this one will be on the larger side, maybe 2’x3’, and Fraktur-inspired (think kangaroos, local flora and birds arranged in a mirrored, symmetrical way).
Also coming up this month…
Let’s talk about defining our style as rug makers and artists. I’ll have a workbook for you where you can really explore what you do and don’t do in your work, and how this can help you hone in on your signature style.
How I can’t draw a straight line and other curiosities I’m learning from - or not learning from yet!
The project I’m starting this month even though my punch needle friends said “Don’t do it!”
Lastly, do you have a punch needle question for me? Something you’d like to learn? Something you’re struggling with? How can I help you this year. Leave comment below and I’ll address them weekly in a video message.
Until next time, be kind, be curious and make things.
