Hey Everyone,
Guess what? Today’s my birthday! 🎉 I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on this wild, wonderful year, and I wanted to share some of that with you all.
So, in case you missed it, we made a HUGE move from Canada to Malaysia for my husband’s job. Talk about a change! I’m pretty proud of myself for jumping into this adventure. One thing that still surprises me is how little time we spend outside because it’s just so hot! When I ask my kids what they miss most about Canada, they say “outside” (oh, and all dressed chips and a good steak – priorities, right?).
Despite missing our friends and family back home, there’s a lot to love here. The kids are at an amazing school, and we’ve done some incredible traveling. In just one year, we’ve hit Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Australia! Not too shabby, huh? I’m so grateful for these adventures, even though I get homesick sometimes.
As I step into my 47th year, I’ve got some exciting goals lined up. I’m diving deeper into surface pattern design and trying to find a style that feels at home with my punch needle creations. I’m itching to turn some of my rug patterns into repeat patterns for fabric. It’s a bit nerve-wracking because I want it to be just right, but I know it’ll come with time and lots of drawing.
A big shoutout to me for finishing Bonnie Christine's Immersion Surface Pattern Design course this spring! And for sticking to my daily drawing goal. I’m channeling my inner Dory from Finding Nemo and “just keep swimming” – I want to keep moving forward creatively and literally for my well-being.
My birthday always gets me in a reflective mood, maybe because it’s close to the middle of the year. This year has been a rollercoaster of change, but also filled with so much growth and gratitude. Thanks for being part of this crazy ride with me!
Cheers to another year of creativity and adventure!
